Yeonjoo Ko, Ph.D.

Welcome to Yeonjoo Ko's website! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Science Education specializing in Physics Education at Jeju National University, Jeju, Korea. I received my doctoral degree in Science Education at Ewha Womans University; additionally, I completed my Master's degree in Learning, Design, and Technology (LDT) at The University of Georgia at Athens (UGA) to fulfill my vision of applying the concepts of LDT to Science Education field.

My research centers on science learning from a sociocultural perspective to approach scientific issues (Socio-scientific issues, SSI) and science learning with high-end technology in K-16 educational contexts. I have designed and implemented educational programs by adopting instructional strategies and utilizing new technologies; investigated student learning patterns and progression in knowledge and skills, competencies, and character. Experience in both fields in two different countries allowed me to expand and enrich my horizon in life.
